GENERAL INFORMATION: 

Reflections Contest:  All students are invited to participate in this year’s PTA Reflections Program.  The theme is “The World Would Be a Better Place If…”  Reflect on the theme.  Submit your original entries in literature, photography, music composition, dance choreography, film production or visual arts.  The entries are due on October 6, 2014 to the main office.  /K. PSAT:  Juniors may register all this week and next week for the PSAT at the ASB office during brunch or lunch.  Sophomore registration will begin Monday, September 22nd and ends Friday, September 26th.  Please bring your Student ID card and registration fee of $25 to the ASB office during brunch or lunch.  Checks are payable to FUHSD.  For more information, check the Lynbrook website or see Mrs. Cortez in the Main Office.  /R. Aletheia’s New Topic:  Everyone is insecure about something. Submit to Aletheia’s newest topic, “Insecurities” online at lhsaletheia.org/submit.  The deadline is September 20th.  /M. Otoshi

 

4th Annual Teen Volunteer Fair:  All high school students can attend the 4th Annual Teen Volunteer Fair on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 9:00am until 12:00pm.  Meet representatives from local charities at this free event.  The event will be held at Lexus of Stevens Creek, 3333 Stevens Creek Blvd, San Jose.  A complimentary continental breakfast will be available.  /M. Viking Pumpkin Run:  The first annual Viking Pumpkin Run will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014.  Registration for this 5K are available on the LHS website, under the Athletics tab.  All proceeds benefit LHS athletic teams.  Please plan to join us for this fun run!  /J. Griffin

 

Synopsys Science Fair SRC Clinic:  Hey Lynbrook scientists!  Interested in doing a science fair project?  Want to know about SRC-approval and the changes to it this year?  Lynbrook will be hosting a Synopsys Science Fair SRC Student Clinic tonight, Thursday, September 18th at 6:30pm in the auditorium.  Tell your friends!!  /J. CLUBS:

Viking Buddies:  Viking Buddies will be hosting a screening of “Best Kept Secret”, a documentary focusing on the journey of a special education teacher, who must find her students a real place in the world as they prepare to leave the public school system.  The event will be on Friday, September 19th from 3:00-4:30pm in the Auditorium.  Viking Buddies is a community service club that provides students with opportunities to earn community service hours directly on campus and for main stream and special needs students to form friendships.  The first meeting will be Wednesday at lunch in room 507.  /J. SPORTS:

Girls Volleyball:  Great job Lynbrook Volleyball for winning your last two matches.  Monday night vs. Prospect, Amy Steinmetz led the team with 18 kills.  On Tuesday night vs. Santa Teresa, Morgan Wu led the team with 16 kills and 8 digs.  Alice Cai added 16 digs.  Lynbrook’s next match is tonight at Gunn High School.  Come out and support the Lady Vikes!  /S. Badminton Open Gym:  There will be a Badminton Open Gym today, Thursday, September 18th, in the Fieldhouse from 5:30-7:30pm.  It is open to all students who are interested in playing badminton in the spring.  Bring your own racquet; birds will be supplied.  Appropriate dress is required.  /K. Christensen

 

Girls Soccer:  There will be an important meeting for all girls interested in playing soccer this year, in the Field House at lunch on Monday, September 22nd.  /S. Safadoost
