GENERAL INFORMATION: 

Section Leader Meeting:  There will be a meeting for all music department section leaders and principal players during Tutorial, today, Tuesday, September 30th, in the auditorium.  /M. Pakaluk

 

Reflections Contest:  All students are invited to participate in this year’s PTA Reflections Program.  The theme is “The World Would Be a Better Place If…”  Reflect on the theme.  Submit your original entries in literature, photography, music composition, dance choreography, film production or visual arts.  The entries are due on Monday, October 6, 2014 to the main office.  /K. Viking Pumpkin Run:  The first annual Viking Pumpkin Run will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014.  Registration for this 5K are available on the LHS website, under the Athletics tab.  All proceeds benefit LHS athletic teams.  Please plan to join us for this fun run!  /J. Griffin

 

Aletheia’s New Topic:  Share your thoughts about drugs and drinking.  Submit to Aletheia’s newest topic, Drugs & Drinking, online at lhsaletheia.org/submit.  The deadline is October 18th.  /M. Otoshi

 

Ro Khanna Speaks at Lynbrook:  How can you contribute to decisions made in local, national and international politics?  Join the hundreds of high school youth who catalyze change around the world – come hear Stanford professor and Congressional candidate Ro Khanna, speak about the ways students can stir progress in the international community, tomorrow, Wednesday, October 1st at lunch in the Auditorium.  /R. CLUBS:

Psychology Club:  Come out to the Society of Psychology and Sociology Club to plan experiments, meet clinical psychologists, and explore a wide variety of fields.  The first meeting is today at lunch in room 204.  See you there!  /E. Levin

 

Second Worldance Workshop:  Dancers!  Enjoyed the hip hop workshop?  Come out this Friday to learn and explore a completely different dance style – lyrical and contemporary!  The workshop will be taught by the nationally ranked dancer, Shiyo Yamamoto.  We will be in the cove from 3:15-5:00pm, this Friday, October 3rd.  See you there!  /P. SPORTS:

Girls Soccer:  Indoor soccer (Futsal) during the month of October on Thursdays from 3:15-4:30pm in the Field House is open to all interested girls.  /S. Safadoost

 

Cross Country:  The Cross Country team participated in the Stanford Invitational on Saturday with over 170 schools from California and the western United States.  The Varsity Boys had several personal bests with the 2nd best school team time.  The girls team ran the best school team time ever with most girls running personal bests.  Grace Ling had the outstanding performance of the day, finishing 3rd in the Division II race and shattering the school record.  Congratulations!  /J.
