Lynbrook Blue Pearl 2018: Come to Lynbrook’s 14th Annual Blue Pearl Dance in the gym on Saturday, January 27th from 7:30- 11:00 pm. Come enjoy live jazz, drinks, and desserts! SAT Preparation Course for Winter 2018: The Lynbrook High School PTSA is proud to offer the “SAT Master” course. This course is specifically designed to prepare you for the SAT. Turn in your registration and payment to the “Future Path” basket in the main office.


Job Shadow Registration: On Monday, March 12, Lynbrook students will have the opportunity to shadow workplace mentors through a typical day on the job. There are shadowing opportunities at Google, ABC7, NetApp, Bon Appetite, El Camino hospital, Stanford, Veteran's Admin and many more companies. Registration begins on Monday, Jan 22. To participate you need to turn in your registration form at the college and career center in the library next week. Lynbrook Loves: Have you been looking for ways to give back to our community? Well, worry not! ASB is holding a 2 week donation drive called Lynbrook Loves to help those suffering from homelessness in our local area. You can donate toiletries, gently used clothes, and cleaning items, bring the items you would like to donate to the top of the quad during brunch and lunch starting today till January 25th. / J. Sophomores: The APLAC Diagnostic will take place on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at 7:35 AM in the LHS cafeteria. The deadline for registration of the APLAC Diagnostic is 4:00 PM on Monday, January 29, 2018. If you have questions about the APLAC Diagnostic, please contact Mr. Richmond in room 213.


Sophomores: The APUSH Diagnostic will take place on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at 7:35 AM in the LHS cafeteria (bring a #2 pencil). The deadline for registration of the APUSH Diagnostic is 4:00 PM on Monday, February 26, 2018. If you have questions about the APUSH Diagnostic, please contact Mr. Martel in room 511.

Summer Planning Workshops: Are you trying to figure out how to best use your time over the summer? Due to popular demand we have added a NEW DATE for these information sessions. The next workshops will be offered on: Tuesday, Jan 23, during lunch; and Friday, Jan 26, during lunch. (The tutorial session has been changed due to the Rally Schedule). All sessions will be in the library Study Room 1. Pick the session that works best for you. No sign-ups needed. Seating is first come, first served. / B. Takahashi



Baseline Concussion Testing: Any student who wants to try out for a spring sport and hasn’t already played a sport this school year is required to take a baseline concussion test. The test will take about 30 minutes and is in room 76 between 3:30- 5:00 pm. Track & Field- Monday, 1/22; Badminton- Tuesday, 1/23 See Megan Gwozdecke if you have any questions.


Swim Meeting: Attention all students interested in joining the Lynbrook Swim Team this year. There is a mandatory team meeting today during lunch on the pool deck. The meeting will start at 12:35 and last about 20 minutes. Attendance will be taken. If you are not at the meeting, then Coach Waldrip will assume that you are no longer interested in joining the swim team. If you can’t make the meeting because of an emergency, please see Coach Waldrip in room 107 during brunch or tutorial this week. Here’s to a great 2018 Swim Season!


Badminton Try-outs: Try-outs for the varsity teams will be on Jan. 31, 3:30-7:30 in the fieldhouse and are open to juniors & seniors only as well as invited freshmen and sophomores. Try-outs for the F/S boys team will be on Feb. 7, 3:15-7:00 for any freshmen, sophomore, and junior. Try-outs for JV girls team will be on Feb. 9, 3:15-6:30 pm. Make sure you complete the Baseline Concussion Test on Jan. 23 and submit your complete physical packet online NO LATER than Jan. 26. You may not try-out if these items are not completed. Please come dressed to play and bring a racquet. / K. Christensen
