Job Shadow

Save the date:  Monday,  March 13, 2017,

Job Shadow Day !

Have you ever wanted to go behind the scenes in a television control room, or tour a state of the art robotics research and development company?  Would you like to follow in the footsteps of a cutting edge Engineer, or work side by side with a Neo Natal Nurse?

Job Shadow is an academically motivating experience that provides students with a real look at the world of work while answering the all too common question, “Why do I have to learn this?”

On Monday, March 13, 2017, Lynbrook students will have the opportunity to shadow workplace mentors through a typical day on the job. Lynbrook Students will find out what it is like to be a doctor, or a judge, or a chef, or a principal.

Students who participate in Job Shadow:

  • Start to identify career interests
  • Observe the daily routine of adults in the work place
  • Gain an awareness of the academic, technical, and personal skills required for various jobs
  • Make the all important connection between school, work, and achieving goals

More about Job Shadow:

Parents, please come to our Host Information Meeting and get all your questions answered!

Wednesday, October 5th at 7:30pm at Lynbrook in Room 76

The Job Shadow program places students in workplace environments throughout our community. This helps students identify possible career interests and gain an awareness of the academic, technical, and personal skills required by particular jobs.

The Job Shadow program needs many hosts.  We are interested in all careers, especially Medical, Electronic Gaming, Finance, Culinary, Advertising, Art, Science and Research, Judiciary, Fashion and Design.

Last year 300+ Lynbrook students participated in this one day event.

All prospective parent hosts are encouraged to attend.  We will be explaining the 2017 program and the role/expectations of being a Job Shadow Host.

In addition to job hosts we need volunteers to assist with running the program. Most volunteer positions require a few hours and can be done over the phone and via email.  Our Volunteer Meeting will be on October 19th.
