A Message from the Principal

Welcome to the 2013-14 school year. As the new principal of Lynbrook High School, I am very excited to start this year and begin working and partnering with our talented students, skilled teachers, committed staff, and supportive parents. What excites me about coming to Lynbrook is the thought of enormous student potential being realized each and every day with the extraordinary interaction we have between students, staff, and parents in this unique place.

Commitment to family, involvement in the school, a belief in the importance of education, and high academic expectations - the values held by our Lynbrook school community, inspire and motivate our educational program and are directly responsible for the success of our students. Nestled in the heart of Silicon Valley, surrounded by the forerunners of the world’s technology industry, our school provides each of our students with a nurturing and innovative learning environment, stimulating their intellectual, emotional and physical growth.

As an award winning California Distinguished School and National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, high achievement and continuous improvement are hallmarks of Lynbrook High School. Our Academic Performance Index (API), California’s measure of school academic and performance growth, stands at 946. We hold a state ranking of 10, along with a 10 against similar schools. These results truly indicate that we have much to celebrate as we continue to make significant and sustained growth in all areas of student achievement.

Lynbrook provides a comfortable and supportive learning space in which all newcomers feel welcome. Visitors to the campus immediately notice the organized, focused, academic atmosphere and impeccably finished, well-resourced facility. In this environment, all students are motivated and challenged to succeed. Students are captivated by the engaging lessons in all classrooms and the energy of the quad at lunchtime. With nearly eighty (80) clubs and student organizations, a comprehensive athletics program and numerous activities, Lynbrook provides a wide variety of opportunities for students to interact both socially and intellectually. Our friendly and caring teachers, counselors, and support staff, strive to create space to connect with all our students and with each other in professional and personal ways that enhance learning and ensure that all feel safe and supported.

My advice to all students and parents, whether you are an incoming freshman or a seasoned Viking family, is to get involved in the life of the school. For students, involvement in the wide array of available activities serves to enhance the high school experience beyond what can possibly be imagined. For parents, involvement through participation in the School Site Council, Lynbrook Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), the Lynbrook Bilingual Committee, our newly formed foundation “Lynbrook Excellence”, Lynbrook Instrumental Music Booster (LIMB), Lynbrook Athletic Boosters or participation as a volunteer for one of the various co-curricular or extra-curricular programs provides an opportunity to serve and support our students via a deeper more connected community avenue.

Lynbrook is an exceptional place “where extraordinary things happen,” with friendly and caring people and an incredibly high quality educational program. The year ahead will be filled with new classes, new clubs, new activities, and new opportunities of every kind to extend and enhance the learning and growth of our students in all areas. I know that as a whole school community, we can all readily anticipate a successful new year of learning, community building, friendship, and fun as we share in the life and growth of this extraordinary place that is Lynbrook.
